What Art Means To Me... and a printable

The Elevate blog conference happened this weekend, and I was honored to photograph the event and talk a little about food photography. This week I will share some of those pictures, but first I wanted to share a snippet of what I talked about to the 75+ bloggers who were there. Some "big-names" attended and intimidated the heck out of me, but once I heard them speak, I felt so at ease.

Their stories and lives are such examples to people...bravery, love and compassion were some of the topics covered. I LOVED getting to meet Lisa Leonard...and Desi from The 36th Avenue actually sat by me at lunch and told me she knew my "work". I was pretty shocked, to say the least.

When it came time for me to speak, I stuttered and shook....and even started to tear up....talking about photography.

To me, photography is more than a picture. Its art. I tried to convey these thoughts to the ladies, and my emotion began to show. Unfortunately, once I get the watery eyes, I can't stop them.

At one point, I paused to look at my notes and someone yelled out..."we love you already".

Did I mention these ladies were so supportive?

When you look at a picture, you may see something different from what another person sees. Our imaginations are what make us different...knowledge can be acquired, but imaginations are grown over time.

No one else has your imagination, and if you are a blogger, your consistent followers come to you because they love YOU and what YOU do.

Whatever your art is, its yours and even imitators can never be you.

I painted this with a quote I came up with as I reflected on the conference...if enough people seem interested, I will offer it as a free download.

What does ART mean to you?
